| The structure noise is a special kind of noise produced by the scattering of the sonifying ultrasonic pulse by the microstructure of the medium. It of ten acts as a seriouse obstacle interferring the ultrasonic testing, it may also offer useful information of the media. The historical development of basic concepts, acoustical means of signal-to-noise enhancement, signal detection on the background of the structure noise and applications of such noise are reviewed in this article. |
