超声穿颅技术可以实现颅内成像、脑神经刺激、颅内肿瘤消融等,是脑疾病诊断和治疗的重要工具。然而,超声穿过颅骨因换能器、水、颅骨之间的阻抗失配,使得入射声场的大部分能量都被颅骨反射,导致超声穿颅效率低、颅骨表面容易升温灼伤等,严重阻碍了超声穿颅技术的临床推广。为提升超声穿颅效率,本文利用传递矩阵法对一维穿颅系统的声场传播进行了详细研究,发现在不考虑颅骨衰减情况下,通过在颅骨外表面增加与颅骨相同声阻抗的材料并调控其厚度,在目标频率超声穿颅效率可达100%,并且改变颅骨与换能器之间水层的厚度对超声穿颅效率没有影响。该工作为超声穿颅系统的透射增强提供了物理基础和解决方案。 |

The transcranial ultrasound technology has great potential in the field of intracranial imaging, neuromodulation, intracranial tumor ablation, etc. However, the transcranial ultrasound technology is still limited in clinic since the large impedance mismatch between the transducer, water and skull inducing most acoustic wave cannot transmit into brain. Here, we investigate the ultrasound propagation in the one-dimensional transcranial ultrasound system by using the transfer matrix method. We found that by adding a material with the same acoustic impedance of the skull on the external surface of the skull and adjusting its thickness, the transmission coefficient of transcranial ultrasound system can reach to 100% at the target frequency. The thickness of the water between the transducer and skull does not affect the transmission coefficient. This work paves the way for the enhancement of the transmission efficiency of the transcranial ultrasound system. |
