In order to establish a high-precision formula for predicting the longitudinal wave sound velocity of seafloor sediments and reveal the response mechanism between the longitudinal wave sound velocity of sediments and related parameters, through statistical analysis of seafloor sediment test data, the minimum value of the longitudinal wave sound velocity of seafloor sediments with porosity was found, and the minimum coordinate formula of a univariate quadratic function was used, A unified analysis was conducted on the minimum values and critical porosity values of the variation of longitudinal wave sound velocity with porosity obtained by this article and many scholars in different sea areas. The calculation shows that the minimum variation range of longitudinal wave sound velocity with porosity variation in sediments from different sea areas is between 1468.59 to 1520.22 m/s, and the corresponding critical porosity value variation range is between 0.69 and 0.88. Analysis shows that the empirical formulas of different scholars belong to a unified mathematical expression derived from acoustic theory. Research has shown that the formation of the minimum value of longitudinal wave sound velocity with porosity variation in seafloor sediment is due to the coupling effect of sediment particles on longitudinal wave propagation. This further reveals the physical mechanism by which factors such as the contact or suspension state of seafloor sediment particles in seawater and changes in elastic strain affect the variation of longitudinal wave sound velocity. |
