The tip clearance region of pumpjet propulsors exhibits a complex vortex structure, and the size of the tip clearance directly affects the vortex distribution, thereby affecting the flow field and flow noise characteristics. In order to reveal the influence of the tip clearance size on the flow field and flow noise of pumpjet propulsors, this study investigates the flow field distribution and the spectral characteristics of flow noise from pumpjet propulsors with various blade tip clearances based on detached eddy simulation (DES) and the Ffowcs Williams-Hawkings (FW-H) equation, . The numerical calculation of far-field noise is achieved through two steps: initially, the flow field information is computed within the near-field region containing all noise sources using the DES method; subsequently, the far-field noise is calculated using the FW-H method based on a permeable surface. The results indicate that as the blade tip clearance increases, there is a decrease in the thrust coefficient and propulsion efficiency of the pumpjet propulsor. Modifying the blade tip clearance can alter the sound pressure level at the blade passing frequency of the flow noise from the pumpjet propulsor. Furthermore, as the blade tip clearance increases, the overall sound pressure level of the flow noise initially decreases and then increases, which corresponds with the pattern of pressure pulsation source level changes within the duct. |
