| In this paper are discussed the assessment of the speech intelligibility and the phenomenon of cocktail-party effect in activity areas, referring to halls accomodating noisy speech activities. Through measurements in many areas like conference halls, theaters, meeting rooms, churches, we establish a correspondance between the subjective assessment of speach listening quality and intelligibility scores as percentages. Various allowed thresholds of noise level in order to prevent the cocktail-party effect are suggested and a computer model for the effect is established. |
